Use the guide below to separate registration decisions, study time and timed practice. Confirm the current exam arrangements with CFA Institute before you book.

CFA Level I exam fees: Plan NZD spending around the published USD fee

Use the current CFA Institute fee selector before making a registration budget. Ask your provider about conversion from a New Zealand dollar account and any transaction charges. Treat travel costs as a separate item until your exam appointment is confirmed.

CFA Institute publishes exam fees in USD. Select Level I and your exam window on its fee page; check CFA Institute for current fees. Use the selector to confirm the amount applicable to your chosen window. Source checked on 27 October 2026.

Test centres and appointment scheduling

The CFA exam is computer-based at Prometric test centres. Register with CFA Institute, then schedule your appointment through its scheduling process. Check CFA Institute and the linked Prometric service for local centres, scheduling windows and available appointments. Registration and appointment scheduling are separate steps; do not assume a particular location or seat is available.

Create a roster-aware study week

  1. Choose three one-hour weekday sessions at your most reliable time, whether before work or during a protected evening. Add two half-hour recall sessions on different days to revisit earlier concepts.
  2. Keep a three-hour weekend block for mixed questions and an hour for correction notes. The example totals eight hours; revise it against your remaining reading and available weeks.
  3. When early overseas meetings use your usual morning, swap the session with a preselected evening. Leave a recovery gap after late calls and retry mistakes later in the week without the solution beside you.

Use a realistic Mock Exam to guide revision

Use a Mock Exam to rehearse sustained concentration after several weeks of shorter sessions. Compare performance across topics, then decide whether the next block needs slower concept work or faster calculator execution.

Use a timed Mock Exam to practise pacing, flagging difficult questions and returning to them within the clock. Compare your topic coverage with the current CFA Institute Level I topic weights. Afterwards, record why each mistake happened, revisit the underlying concept and retry it after a gap. A practice score helps direct revision; it does not predict an exam result. Questions from candidates in New Zealand

How can I study around early overseas meetings?

Mark meeting-heavy days first and place new learning in the remaining reliable slots. Maintain brief recall on disrupted days and use a planned weekend block to protect continuity.

Should I follow an Australian study group’s clock?

Use an explicit time zone and confirm the New Zealand local time, particularly around daylight-saving changes. Written question discussions can remove the need for every member to meet live.

Can I budget registration in New Zealand dollars?

Start from the current USD fee published by CFA Institute. Your payment provider can explain conversion and charges; this guide does not quote a local-currency registration amount.

What should I confirm before arranging domestic travel?

Check that your appointment is booked, then read its exact address, date and local time. Centre availability changes, so do not plan around an assumed list of locations.

How do I keep momentum during a small team’s busy period?

Use a minimum routine of recall and correction rather than starting several new readings. Tell your study partner which work is deferred and put it back into the calendar at the next weekly review.
